i have a very fond memory of laying on the grass at pitchfork a couple years ago while he played his set in the background. excited for this.
can’t think of an artist that quietly went into hibernation and then came back swinging as hard as he has. Very excited.
Yeah, went with that deluxe one, happy to spend $34 on a record when the quality is this good and it comes with some goodies/is limited to 700
Yeah this includes all three of last year's singles, a release model I typically dislike but it'd be a short-ass album otherwise.
Haven’t heard any of the singles, going to hold off till release day. Listened to the last one this morning though and prizefighter is one of my favorite indie songs in a minute. The opener is peak stuff too.
The singles are so good that I'm happy about it tbh Also canceled my deluxe order because Spotify sent me an email for a different neon green deluxe limited to 300
Did not expect this to come so soon but I guess there’s a bunch of tracks in the wild, so it was inevitable. Really amped for it, last album was perfect
Really thought this came out next month for some reason, was so pleasantly surprised by my pre-order arriving today :)
YUp super stoked https://www.pastemagazine.com/music/youth-lagoon/youth-lagoon-opens-the-portal-rarely-do-i-dream havent fully read this but seems super in depth
Wish I would have pre-ordered earlier. Loving everything I’ve heard off this so far. YL’s best era in these last two LP’s it seems.
Album is beautiful. Just as good as Heaven is a Junkyard, if not potentially better. The songwriting is very similar w/r/t vignettes about rural America (reminds me of The Killers' Pressure Machine in that sense), but musically, it's just a bit more expensive, incorporating synth, pedal steel, horns, woodwinds, etc. The bass on this thing is awesome. I can't wait to read more thoughts in here. Definitely has a retro vibe that fits the themes here and occasionally comes through as like, The Blue Nile influence or something like that.
