Album deserves a thread because it's probably the most fun hip-hop release of the year. @ghostedaway peep this if you haven't

Yeah, I shouldn't have put it off so long, shit rocks. Lots of variety and the songs are so short that it lends itself to a lot of replay value

 

She’s fucking great. Didn’t know anything about her until I saw a tweet or something mentioning an association with TDE. Checked out this album and loved it straight away. Definitely an album I feel most on here and in the hip hop thread would like.

 

It really splits the difference between newer, concept-driven hip-hop albums and like, early 2000s shit. "Denial is a River" could be grating in the wrong hands, but the execution is great, and "Catfish" has those Missy Elliott vibes that even someone like my wife, who grew up with radio-friendly hip-hop but isn't a major genre fan, will fuck with. She's all over the place stylistically, but somehow sounds so locked in on this thing.

Unrelated, but the chorus delivery on "Boiled Peanuts" is like half Nicki, half Jonathan Davis lmao.

I'm glad she's finally getting her moment with this tape. Reminder that Alter Ego is one of the best songs of the year tbh.

 

Denial is a River is such great song. That beat alone is what got me when I first listened to it. Couldn’t not be a fan after that.

 

Saw her at Camp Flog Gnaw the other day and goddamn she’s incredible. Saw her at Coachella 2023 too and this new show was a big step up (she killed it back then too)

Finally listened to this the other day and really loved it. Can’t wait to get more from her.

Also she was on Colbert last night, this is one of the coolest late night performances I’ve ever seen.
