I had to check earlier, but yes they extended the deadline to 9/15/23, which is the day it released. According to some fan Twitter accounts I saw she did submit for several categories. Doesn’t look like My Love Mine All Mine was nominated specifically though so maybe she’ll find a way to get that in next year
No way they nominated Great Van Fleet for best rock album for Starcatcher, but didn't nominate Battle at Garden's Gate lol. Starcatcher was their worst album yet and objectively reviewed much worse.
Jon Batiste won Album of the Year a couple of years back so maybe he doesn't get it this year based solely on that reason. I can see it being Lana, SZA or Taylor realistically. Boygenius and Olivia are the ones I'm wanting to win, but don't see it happening.
If Olivia didn't win for SOUR, I really don't see it happening this year. GUTS is a better album, but it seems to have been a lot less impactful in terms of the culture at large.
I understand why, but it’s still strange to see how commercialized the Grammys have become. The nominees in the major categories (genre wise) look more like the Billboard/American Music Awards nominees than the Grammys in the past.
I mean, sure, but a whole lot of legendary artists have never won the big one either. Like, I don't think the Grammys "hate" Bruce Springsteen because he never won album of the year.
You guys are trying to apply too much logic on how these winners get chosen haha. Voting is done by like 10,000 members. At the end of the day most voters have their bias for genres, which typically splits votes. Which is why whenever Kendrick gets an AOTY nomination the same year as say Jay Z, that’s a guarantee that neither will win it. Probably the same scenario will happen this year splitting the Taylor/Olivia vote (maybe even Miley too). I’d put my money on Boygenius or SZA taking the album win. Also I didn’t think it was her best but that Janelle album is a lot of fun, would be cool to see her win it
See, I even forgot Brandi was on there! If it weren’t for “Flowers” being the year’s most deathless pop single I don’t think I would have remembered that album even existed.
I feel this way too, but people aren't ready for that conversation. "Not Strong Enough" is a great fucking song, though, I'm fine with that having a few nominations.
People (Swifties) thinking Taylor is going to announce Reputation tonight at the Granmys…I feel like that would be a bit disrespectful to all the other nominees if she did that. She’s had so much attention on her last/this year and to make a night that’s supposed to be celebrating the industry as a whole way more about her wouldn’t be that cool.
