23 years is an odd celebration of time. Hopefully it’s not slower/softer versions of the original. I think I’d rather have a 20 year ACLOTM re-release instead. Regardless, I’m excited for some new music! Can’t believe it’s been 7 years since 8. I remember when that came out and caught them on tour with Jimmy Eat World. Seems like yesterday.
It'll be very similar to the livestream they did for the album back in late 2021. They won't screw up Morning View and slow it down. I'd prefer an anniversary celebration for ACLOTM, but Morning View is the money maker that can still sell out arenas. It's kind of like Thursday with how they bounce back and forth between Full Collapse and War All The TIme celebrations, or Yellowcard with Ocean Avenue. Also with regards to Crow, I think Brandon may have made those songs way to difficult for him to perform on a nightly basis.
Curious to see how this is. This in an all-timer for me and holds a special place in my heart. Very open to a new interpretation. Also, huge bummer to hear about Ben leaving. But I imagine after his tumor he’d want to hold back from extensive activity with a band post-recovery so it makes sense. Nicole’s been killing it from videos I’ve seen, so they’re in good hands!
Here for it, very interested to hear what this sounds like and how the bassist change shows itself or not
Intrigued by all of this. I saw Nicole perform with them last summer and she was excellent. Very much felt like a part of the band rather than a touring musician/fill-in.
re-recordings usually suck, but Thrice's re-recording of Artist was cool and the live stream of this album from 2021 was good so I'm optimistic
theirs was fantastic. So was Four Year Strongs re-recording of Enemy of the World. I wish Bad Religion would re-record their super early albums but that’s not punk. Lol
Was there anything noticeably different on the Morning View livestream they did? That gives an indication of what the rerecording will sound like or something. I missed it back then.
Rolling Stone did a nice interview with Brandon where he talks about the album and opens up more about Ben’s departure. A good read! Incubus' Brandon Boyd on 'Morning View' Re-Recording, Tour, Lizzo
Am I crazy in thinking that Brandon sounds really nasally on this ??? I like the extended outro but otherwise , nah this ain’t it.
Yeah he does sound a bit nasally here. Instrumentally I really like this version though and the background vocals are a nice touch.
Going to…Echo the thoughts above and say he sounds nasally compared to normal, but the outro is pretty cool. All this did was make me want to revisit the original album again. Re-recording something as good as Morning View is a bold move.
Brandon doesn’t sound great but all of the instrumentation sounds more lively and interesting than the original
