August 1-4 in Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois Likely acts playing: Blink-182 Hozier SZA Tate McRae Faye Webster
Not sure if there's a likely headliner that could get me to go this year, but following along anyway.
The Killers and Post Malone both feel likely just on the basis of how many fests they're both playing this year.
Post Malone played in 2021, so that'd be a little quicker than they usually bring someone back. Not impossible though. I'm feeling like our pool is: SZA, blink-182, Doja Cat, Noah Kahan, The Killers, Peso Pluma, 21 Savage, ASAP Rocky, Cage the Elephant, Ed Sheeran (but god I hope not), twenty one pilots, Nicki Minaj, Hozier, Rauw Alejandro, and hell I'll even throw Kali Uchis in there I personally think she deserves a top 8 spot if she plays. I'll be pretty gutted if SZA and blink don't play. Or even worse if they both play the same night.
Ya that's true. Most likely unless Lolla feels they're Bud Light again now that they reunion hype has died down, but I'd be surprised.
Agreed it's probably unlikely, but it's not unprecedented when someone has a huge rise from one year to the next. I believe it happened with maybe Halsey? And there's been a couple other instances.
Well he wasn't really headlining festivals last year. I think his rise was pretty much all of 2023, but now he's being booked everywhere as a headliner. But... I agree this isn't quite a case of going from relatively unknown to big artist, as much as big to bigger, so it's probably unlikely he's back.
Fair. I wonder how much of that is because we're seemingly in a slow year for festivals (based on some of the lineups) and he's seemingly acutely aware that this is likely the only time he's going to make huge amounts of money.
I think he's just genuinely gotten pretty big. I mean it's anecdotal, but I have a lot of friends who are really into him. That whole style of music is huge right now. He's got some big hits with Stick Season, and Dial Drunk, which even my Dad knows from the radio. And the fans of this music seem to come out in force, if you look at Zach Bryan, The Lumineers, Hozier, etc. They all bring people out in big numbers, even if they don't necessarily feel like super popular/mainstream artists. I don't think he's quite to top 4 Lolla or top 3 at Coachella or Bonnaroo. But as the "smaller" headliner at things like Osheaga and stuff? I think it makes sense.
They’re a British indie rock band who are blowing the fuck up. They sold out their US tour last year in seconds. WXRT has been playing them a lot. They’re definitely getting a big push here and everywhere.
My friend loves them she was just saying yesterday she really hopes they play this year, so I'm happy for her. I've listened a bit and they're pretty cool. Kind of Wet Leg like in the way they're a band popping off with just a few songs out.
Not gonna happen. The Smile is still touring, other members have their respective projects going. It’s going to be another year or two at best.
My guesses are SZA, Travis Scott, Skrillex, Noah Kahan (bigger stage), Cage The Elephant, and newly formed Sublime.
No Lizzy McAlpine Chicago date on the upcoming tour. Is in IA for Hinterland the weekend of Lolla, feel like it's likely she's there.
