I feel like she’ll be back since Jay-Z is still there. Also, that 50 years of hip hop performance was incredible
I believe it gen z has no knowledge of music history it's scary, no boomer I just can't imagine not having broad taste haha
I thought I remember reading something saying that sometimes these surprise winners happen because it’s such a strong field and the votes get already quite evenly. Legacy acts, like Bonnie, have voters that will vote for them every time no matter who else is in the category.
Meh I’m not really bothered by Swift fans, assuming the younger fans, not knowing a 73 year old musician. I’m sure if you ask the average 73 year old to name a Lizzo song they’d also have no idea. It is what it is, there’s an age gap.
The Bonnie Raitt song is a really really good one and I think it's a cool choice. I also think it's totally fine if no one under 30 has ever heard of her lol I don't think *this* is the thing that shows the Grammys are out of touch, you can point to other stuff that probably makes that point better. (Hi, the screenshot Muprh posted of the """subtitles""")
I guess it's more just that people are about to Bonny bear her and Samara haha, keeping best new artist until now is a choice
Harry winning is a fucking joke lol and I liked Harry’s House Beyoncé should just stop showing up at this point
I will forever find it weird how much the Grammys hype up Beyoncé (a la her having the most Grammys, showing her in the crowd a lot) and for this year making it A Thing that she was actually coming when she was late and then just…not giving her AOTY Obviously anyone nominated can win AOTY but like, it just feels like after Self-Titled and Lemonade got snubbed there’s something more going on.
I think someone said earlier, if these Record/Album/Song of the Year nominations share too much from the same genre, the vote gets split too much. Beyonce and Lizzo both being in the category was a guarantee that neither would win.
