Justin Hawkin's youtube channel reminded me that this album is coming. I'm loving Mother Nature and Nothing to Declare. Also had no idea that Little Dark Age became a huge hit on TikTok recently. It's hovering around 600 million streams on Spotify and close to their most played song. Good for them!
This is the most I have enjoyed an MGMT album in a while. Not that I am blown away, but it's a really nice listen. Super breezy, almost like 60s rock vibes, just chill and vibey
Great first listen, definitely gonna be spinning this a ton. Like everyone else kinda said, the singles really stand out, but last three songs really hit too What's really cool is they try out a lot of different sounds, like you get the Oasis/Beatlesque thing but also like a little Cyndi Lauper 80s pop, and some grunge, still feels really cohesive somehow.
Amazing record front to back. The last couple tracks are a tad bit slow, but the fantastic writing and production more than make up for it
This is really great, even if it loses some momentum after an amazing start. I'm finally digging back through and listening to the whole discography properly. And I must say - and I know this is really niche - but they remind me of Ween a lot. Specifically the rare times when Ween would write a relatively serious song that was still adventurous and playful (I Don't Want It, It's Gonna Be Alright). Which is pretty much as good as it gets.
Listened to this a lot this weekend. Probably my favorite since Congratulations. Really excellent work.
pretty bummed this record did nothing for me since I love most of their stuff. Very monotonous for me.
