YO A thread to talk about all things Dark Wave/New Wave, whether that be classics like Joy Division or Sisters of Mercy or new artists like Fotocrime or Drab Majesty. Just wanted to connect with people here about that since my user name is a Cold Cave reference haha LET’S GO!
Chino Moreno (Deftones) & Shaun Lopez (Far) band Crosses (†††) is pretty damn great, and I think fits the dark wave description nicely, for those who haven't heard them yet. Their next full length comes out Oct 13 and has a Robert Smith feature!
I got to see Peter Hook and the Light at Riot Fest in 2013, and they played an entire Joy Division set. Obviously not as cool as seeing the entire band would've been, but still a magical experience. The way the entire crowd swayed in unison has always stuck with me.
Also, this seemed a perfect time to post this. I just got around to finally playing this last weekend, and I still love it so much.
Been jamming this a lot. Like if Leonard Cohen sang for New Order/Joy Division/Sisters of Mercy. Former members of Coliseum and Xerxes
What the hell happened to Youth Code? I know they played with MCR recently but they haven’t done anything big since the pandemic and they had so much heat on them back in like 2018
I had a darkwave phase when I got into the genre around 2018 or 2019 so I'm trying to remember stuff I really loved at the time. This is the first project that comes to mind
You know that one cover of dammit that went viral because it sounded like Bob Burgers? The band that made it is called Dead on a Sunday. I saw them live and they have pretty good Goth/Dark Wave vibes all around.
Really loved that Drab Majesty and Fotocrime album this year. Hoping to see DM with slowdive this next year. Anyone got any other records they liked this year?
They're not new releases, but I listened to a ton of Sisters of Mercy this tear, especially Floodland.
