    Straight to series order! Woo!

For those that don’t know, this is a series of short stories by GRRM focusing on Ser Duncan The Tall, a hedge knight traveling the Seven Kingdoms. I won’t say more than that as to not spoil. This blurb is good enough:

If you paid close attention to GOT then you already know who Egg is. If not, try to avoid spoilers if you can!

As it says, this is roughly 90 years before the events go GOT, and about 100 years after the events of House of the Dragon, so smack dab in the middle. We will meet at least one character in this show who serves a big role in GOT, if not two.

Can still hear Harry Lloyd saying “dunk the lunk, thick as a castle wall” in my head haha

And tbh considering what is supposed to his considerable size, I don’t know what way they go here. Who are some tall ass actors that are also good? Haha

Also gonna be interested in how they do this. I assume they won’t try to get 10 full length episodes out of one short story. So shorter seasons? Or maybe they make shorter episodes?

Nice. Hopefully they keep some years apart from seasons and make this a longterm thing. GRRM isn't even halfway done with this saga, and this entire story is eventually going to span decades and see these character age up quite a bit.

I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

Dave Batuista would be my suggestion, but I have no idea if aligns with the stories lol. Probably go with a relatively no-name!

    yeah good okay Prestigious

so this is a short story, right?

yeah, one of 3 of them written so far. I suppose they COULD get 10 full episodes out of one story but it would be a huge stretch imo. They’d definitely have to add some of their own scenes and story to it

Way too old. The character is supposed to be like 20 basically when we meet him.

They will probably cast a younger unknown actor. Armie hammer was the only tall and relatively young actor I could think of.

It’s 3 short stories actually. The book just combines all 3

GRRM posted a blog about the show. Says it will likely be 6 episodes but that’s not set in stone. The pilot is already written and the first season would just cover the first of the novellas.

yeah but with this being subtitled “hedge knight”, i assumed it would just be the first short story, which seems to be confirmed now.

I haven’t read them in a couple years now but I think I remember the 2nd one being my favorite?

Oh the first season is yes. The following two seasons are the other two stories according to GRRM

One question is will they introduce Bloodraven in this early or will they wait until later seasons? Technically he doesn't show up until the third story.

Also one thing that will interesting, is that people are used to GRRM stories that are about war and the lead up to war. The Dunk & Egg stories (at least the ones that have been published so far) are set in a post-war era in Westerosi history. You get to see what this universe looks like in the aftermath and recovery from a war that has recently ended.

Yeah for some reason I was thinking the House Osgrey thing was story 3 and the Fiddler story was #2. 3 is definitely my favorite then haha

So I don't really know very many actors, let alone British ones....who are we thinking for Ser Duncan?

Gonna be a challenge to find a kid actor for Egg too.
