Round one is here. 62 years of albums with 2 convenient ties. What album will come out on top? The final batch of the first round. NOTICE: PLEASE DO NOT VOTE UNLESS YOU'VE HEARD BOTH ALBUMS. STOP DOING THIS SHIT. For this matchup, we start with: (11) Jimmy Eat World - Clarity vs. (54) Vampire Weekend - Father of the Bride
i can't believe this has shaken out where i have voted for jimmy eat world twice. they've gotten so lucky.
I only listened to that Vampire Weekend album once (that was our 2019 winner?!) so I’ll give it another shot. Clarity is an all-timer though.
I enjoy FOTB, but it’s kind of hilarious that of all VW’s albums it’s the one that made it into the bracket. Regardless, it’s Clarity by a million.
FOTB is good but it's not even VW's best album. Clarity is a classic and one of my all-time favorites.
Father of the Bride was my #1 of its year and fucking rules and imo is a thousand times better than the second best Jimmy Eat World album But it’s Clarity, no contest.
I don't adore Clarity quite like I do their subsequent work. If this was Modern Vampires, I'd give it to VW. As it stands, "For Me This Is Heaven" and "Lucky Denver Mint" lock up my vote.
Vampire Weekend is in that category of bands for me that when I listen to them I think they're really good but once the music stops I completely forget about them. Clarity probably isn't in my top three JEW but I still love it.
I'm pretty sure I've heard Clarity but should probably listen again. I echo @OhTheWater that I'm still waiting to hear what I'm missing with JEW. I mean I enjoy them enough but they've never hooked me in. I'll probably go with Father of the Bride but I'll listen to Clarity with an open ear.
As far as complete discography they’re the best band in the genre and there isn’t an overly close second.
Deliberately didn’t try to name it cause I knew someone would be pedantic. Emo. Scene. Ap.net. Whatever the fuck your preferred nomenclature is. None of them are any good
Lol I mean you’re calling a band bar none the best of the genre, I want to know what you’re talking about
