Round one is here. 62 years of albums with 2 convenient ties. What album will come out on top? The final batch of the first round. NOTICE: PLEASE DO NOT VOTE UNLESS YOU'VE HEARD BOTH ALBUMS. STOP DOING THIS SHIT. For this matchup, we start with: (27) Weezer - Weezer (The Blue Album) vs. (38) Manchester Orchestra - A Black Mile to the Surface
Neither of these are all-timers for me. Both are good and I like them. I'd probably pull Manchester off the shelf first, so that gets the vote.
You could make a case for second on a good say. But my logic still stands. I like their 2nd-4th best album better than Weezer's 2nd.
It’s my second favorite ManOrch album. I think A Million Masks is a little better, but I generally feel like they leveled up with those two. Blue is probably my favorite Weezer album though.
it’s not that i hate it so much as i think it’s not that impressive haha. it’s not, like, rhcp haha it’s easy to find weezer corny now but not liking the blue album is just a bad opinion hahaha
Fair enough! Rivers has always made me super uncomfortable both in his lyrics and just generally as a person. His voice also just kind of like…drags for me. I’m not really sure how else to explain it. And musically they’ve never really excited me.
Manchester could write a Weezer album by the end of the week. Weezer could've spent their whole career on one album and still not put out something as good as any MO album.
again, i get not liking the band/rivers. he’s pretty easily the best guitarist/most talented of this scene though.
there's no way that's remotely true. he's probably not even the most talented at any given weezer show.
