  3. I do love Neil, but I've never listened to this. Will give it a go. Pinkerton is something, though

Haven't heard the Neil record on this one, so I'll abstain from voting until I do that. I'm a bit mixed on Pinkerton, though.

I'd say I'm usually "like not love" on Neil, so I haven't gone as deep on his catalog. Will listen tonight or tomorrow.

I haven't heard it, but growing up, this was the Neil album that was always clowned on and not even pressed on cd for like 20 years. Crazy to see it labeled as a masterclass. I'll have to check it out.

There's bunch written on On the Beach, well worth the deep dive. This is one of his best but Pinkerton squeezes by for me.

this is the best Neil Young album and it's going to lose to freaking Pinkerton because not enough people have blissed out to "Motion Pictures (For Carrie)"

As someone intimidated by Neil’s massive discography, I’m just excited to not have to decide where to start for myself.

Seemingly brutal choice, but Pinkerton is better.

the only Neil that might top it for me is Tonight’s The Night

After the Gold Rush for me

yeah tonight’s the night, this and zuma are my top 3

time fades away has some of his best too but it’s a live album

Neil has a stronger catalogue, but he doesn’t have that 1 (or 2 for weezer) towering triumph looming over the rest of his catalogue. Any of a dozen or so are reasonable picks for a person’s favorite

    Everybody Knows…
    After The Gold Rush
    Harvest
    Time Fades Away
    On The Beach
    Zuma
    Tonight’s The Night
    Zuma
    Rust Never Sleeps
    Live/Rust
    Freedom
    Harvest Moon

You could throw American Stars N Bars or Comes A Time in there and they aren’t totally insane. Maybe even Trans or Peace Trail if you’re a real sicko, im open to it.

Of course, Pacific Daydream is somehow the weezer album i listen to most nowadays…

Yeah, Neil’s got this one for me. Really enjoyed On the Beach. I relistened to Pinkerton after and I feel like I like the album more with each listen.

This is the best Neil album imo and a top 10 album of all time for me. It ends with a legitimate contender for greatest three song run in rock history.

Pinkerton is awesome but I think it’s a much greater musical achievement when you factor in the bsides (even just the official ones let alone Longtime Sunshine etc!). Not holding that against it, but there’s a universe out there where it’s a top 3 album for me, it just isn’t with the 10 songs they picked.

among the most brutal matchups of the first round.

Dude with the kind of music you love, it’s guaranteed you will eventually have a moment where you get SUPER into Neil. May as well lean into it.
