Greatest Spielberg Film (Elite Eight): Jaws (4) vs. Saving Private Ryan (5)

Invasion of Normandy alone could probably win this bracket depending on my mood. The rest of the movie is nearly as great.

 

I do not want to make a choice on this one.

 

The scene in the final battle where the tank appears behind them, obscuring the sky before it comes crashing down over the dirt and debris, is a true marvel. D-Day gets all the attention, but that desperation in the final battle is real. You truly believe in those last moments that all is lost.

 

Jaws deserves to lose here for what it did in the movie bracket alone.

Considered voting for Private Ryan for Diesel but went with Jaws as it’s the film I rewatch most out of both

 

the war movie on land for me

 

Which one - when on - would I stop and watch? Both of them.

Jaws. Just in terms of this specific thread....I think private Ryan is a little overrated. Its Great but its not one of my favorite war movies really, not my favorite hanks, and compared to Jaws? No way.

Jaws beats SPR with Robert Shaw’s performance, alone.

 

I might flip my vote to Jaws so I can go to bed early tonight.

 

Jaws still out here beating superior movies I see.

 

Jaws is a more "perfect" film, but Saving Private Ryan changed the way I view movies as a young kid.
