I wish my immediate reaction wasn't 'god this is going to fucking suck' e: looked at the tracklist and yeah no I'm out lol, fuck that
Casual fan that harbors no strong feelings about the band’s arc, but this is a great couple of tracks.
the best part of reading this comment was first reading the track list and saying hmm, then reading your comment and going back to the track list and thinking oh yea this is obnoxious, then being about to scroll away and only THEN noticing (Race and Religion) lol
Taken from Reddit, where someone summarized the Win Butler interview on BBC: Album is named after the novel WE by Yevgeny Zamyatin Record is split into two halves, isolation and anxiety is emphasized on side one and a sense of community is reached on side two. Win says the album is about the voyage of "I" to "WE" A line from the record: "When everything ends, can we do it again?" Opening line of the record: "The age of doubt, and I doubt we'll figure it out" (Age of Anxiety is Track 1) The Lightning I, II: the image in Win's mind was a black valley you're trapped in and you're using the lightning to guide your way out. The concept of it's always darkest before the dawn was what Win was thinking about. Produced by Nigel Godrich
I'm only a casual Arcade Fire fan but hopefully this is good. I had a lot of fun seeing them at Lollapalooza in 2017.
