This thread is dedicated to any and all things Metroid. The most recent entry to the series, Metroid Dread, is out now for Nintendo Switch.
posting in a legendary thread. regarding today's discussion: I play it on both emulator and Switch. I much prefer playing it on PC but the Switch version is no slouch. I am currently making up my progress from the Switch version on my emulator copy. I don't know why people immediately assume piracy when people emulate, unless the game is unavailable, in which case I think it's morally justifiable. also lol @ Polygon absolutely dropping the ball once again when pixel counting, claiming the game runs in 720p docked when it's 900p.
I never got around to Samus Returns. Should I pick it up when I’m done with Dread? Definitely feeling the Metroid fever right now.
hoooo boy HOOOOOOOO BOY this Kraid fight is putting a fiery rage inside me. i'm doing better than i was last night for what it's worth; i got SO damn far just now but i keep missing shooting some of the projectiles (in the second half) and dying. they do SO much fucking damage
omfg i just noticed it, hahahaha don't know how, i can't tell you how many times i had to see that screen between last night and the last half hour
I've only gotten past that second boss so far but it was perfect, it seems crazy hard but it's just being patient Also that's instantly one of my favorite boss battles ever. I know I'm gonna wish this had a boss rush mode when I finish it. I copied a save file just for that lol
Just played the first 40 minutes, but was so smooth. Already getting anxious/excited looking at the areas I know I’ll explore later. This is my first Metroid game since Fusion.
Haven’t played one of these since the first Prime, but after years of fawning over more recent entries in the genre like Hollow Knight and Ori, this feels like returning home
After Dread the slower pace might be an issue as the melee counter isn’t as dynamic (there’s a lot of stopping while waiting to parry). Also hunting down 40 Metroids seems like way to much, 20 would’ve made for a much tighter experience. That said it’s a beautiful 3DS game(the 3D really makes those backgrounds pop), and worth seeing the origins of a lot of the mechanics in Dread.
I got the speed boost a bit ago and finally hit a point where I have no idea where to go, probably doesn’t help that I suck at pulling off shinespark enjoying this though just got the grappling hook, I think I need more fingers
