Ehhhh, I dunno, I've really tried a lot and have listened to Exile at least 3 times... but it just doesn't click with me as an album, I find it sooo long and bloated. I tend to just be more into the band's singles than their full albums. I can acknowledge that they push boundaries a lot, but just not in ways that I tend to enjoy.
I'm mostly at the "I understand WHY they are so influential, and everything they did, and they are very deserving... but a lot of it just isn't my thing"
1. Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street 2. Neil Young - Harvest 3. Paul Simon - Paul Simon I’m not a die hard Stones guy by any means, plenty of their catalog left for me to explore including some peak stuff, but Exile is a towering achievement of a record. Not my #1 record of the decade, but on my short list for it. As for the other two, I’ll be boring and go with two very good but not quite peak records from two of my all time favorites. Harvest is up there with Neil’s most complete albums and also home to probably the greatest guitar tone ever recorded (Words and Alabama). PS s/t is Paul at his most pop and fun, and man could he be pop and fun when he wanted to. Probably # 2 or 3 of his solo albums for me.
i’m not trying to get too political but i feel like if the stones hung it up right after goats head soup, the beatles v. the stones would be a slam dunk in their favor. the biggest argument against often cited, which is totally fair, is how badly they diluted the product. going on on three albums in a row that are pretty much perfect is hard to top
Gotta remember to get in my votes this time. Listening to No Secrets by Carly Simon for the first time in quite a while. Klaus Voormann played some great bass on here

Again quite a few I'm missing. Firmly recommend the above. I think Something/Anything? will really knock your socks off. And I can't imagine a better time than a hot summer day to discover Still Bill.
Totally forgot this year is the Steely Dan debut. I keep meaning to do a road trip and listen to the entire discography in chronological order. Also have moved onto Fanny Hill by Fanny. Chorus of "Ain't That Peculiar" is fucking massive
I think their s/t is the best by a HAIR over one of Spo's all time favorites (Pick of the Litter). Both 5 star classics, but the s/t has more of the identifiable big hits. Pretty much THE template Philly Soul artist. George is a big fan of their first album with G.C. Cameron's gritty lead vocals, and I dig that one too, but they really hit their stride on Philly International.
There are quite a few of us with a big soft spot for Philly Soul (Spinners, Stylistics, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes) on the boards. Or at least there used to be.
just listened to this for the first time recently after already being a fan of At Fillmore East, definitely into it.
