1) The Royal Tenenbaums 2) Rushmore (sometimes interchangeable with RT but the older I get, the more I go back to RT) 3) Bottle Rocket 4) Darjeeling 5) Life Aquatic 6) Grand Budapest 7) Moonrise 8) Mr. Fox 9) Isle of Dogs
I really did not like Rushmore when I saw it. I feel like Max is supposed to be obnoxious but he was too annoying for me to really enjoy the film.
Grand Budapest for me, i shudder to admit that I don't think I've actually ever seen The Royal Tennenbaums
1. Tenenbaums/Rushmore 2. Bottle Rocket/Grand Budapest 3. Fantastic Mr. Fox 4. Life Aquatic 5. Moonrise Kingdom 6. Isle of Dogs 7. Darjeeling His early stuff really outpaced his later stuff until Grand Budapest. Bottle Rocket/Rushmore/Tenenbaums have a balance of heart and script/directorial focus that I didn’t find in Aquatic/Darjeeling/Moonrise, though Fantastic Mr. Fox was great. I’d like to revisit Moonrise Kingdom though. Might have been more on me than the film. Darjeeling has some merits but is the only one I actively think is bad.
I might feel the same. I wasn't a big fan of Tenenbaums when I first watched it but I loved it the second time.
Went Life Aquatic since I know it won’t win, and it always seems to be in the middle of people fav in his catalog. Though I love it so much. Always been drawn to nautical themed/driven stuff, and dafoe is just too good in it.
Tenenbaums is one of the all times greats, so it's that shortly followed by Life Aquatic for me. That SIgur Ros scene in Life Aquatic is a killer.
Mr. Fox for me. It was between that and Moonrise. It's been forever since I saw Tenenbaums and I couldn't remember enough about it to vote for it.
Such a solid filmography. I voted Bottlerocket but there’s others that could have easily received my vote.
The Royal Tenenbaums is his peak, and he has been struggling to reach those heights again. Rushmore is a strong second though.
