I am obsessed w/ Off Road Minivan currently. Tigerwine and The Drowned God have been getting a lot of spins recently.

I think they've been on fire the last two or so years. Was slow for a while to be honest w/ Hearts like Lions being only new band I really enjoyed.

There is already a ton of T&N discussion in the Christian Music thread, but I'm down with having a separate thread for this.

From about 2010 through last year, the majority of their signings have been really disappointing, but I'm impressed with their more recent bands. That new Tigerwine album is very good, and I can't wait to hear the new Idle Threat stuff.

Sainthood Reps were pretty good too, but overall I think you're right.

And no, I'm not joking. I love that Write This Down album and the follow-up haha. Not sorry.

That one Terminal record was so good

I won't comment on Write this Down, but Sainthood Reps was pretty good. I remember them being controversial because one of the band members did an interview for a porn site and then posted it on their Facebook page. They must have known they wouldn't get a positive reaction to that. Also, I only recently learned that one of the members is in Caspian now, which is neat.

Totally forgot that Abandoned Pools put out a record on T&N, I loved that band

Sainthood Reps and He is Legend will always be the most confusing signings for me. Love both bands but definitely didn’t fit in with the T&N / Capitol Christian mold at the time.

Tigerwine is amazing and I really like the single they just dropped for Idle Threat. Plus Acceptance is just amazing.

I would love to know the story behind the He Is Legend signing. I'm surprised they haven't been mentioned on the Labeled podcast.

Had Acceptance dropped Phantoms on T&N I think they would have fared better

I think at the very least, they’d have a much sooner second album. Maybe get upstreamed to Capitol like Mae or Virgin like The Almost. After that, who knows haha. I’m just glad they’re back to making music!

I Am Hollywood might be my favorite release off Solid State. Album is crazy.

the religious angle of the label always turned me off but those twothirtyeight albums were so, so good

I was a youth group kid because that’s where most of my friends were, and through there I discovered the TN/SS world. So many bands I still listen to, and I think a reason they were successful back then is because so many bands weren’t overtly religious. But I totally agree.. I always would cringe at the “we do this for our lord and savior Jesus” bands on the label.

part of it was the ethos too. even the bands not overtly religious like underoath had religious beliefs that they used as a scapegoat for being shitty to other bands on tour

When I was in HS I smoked a joint with HIL outside the venue during the It Hates You album cycle. Never understood how they were a tooth and nail band hahaha

I will always appreciate them keeping Joy Electric on as long as they did despite them making no money and being so niche it was a money sink.

    Joy Electric is the best.

My parents went through a phase of not letting me listen to non-Christian music to appease other parents at my school. Solid state was my special past to get something heavy.
