This will get underway this Friday, 11/13. That’s Friday the 13th, for those counting. Topic of discussion before we get started: should we even vote on anything pre-Chamberlain Waits? My worries are that many here have likely never bothered to even listen to those releases and participation may suffer because of it, and while they aren’t necessarily throwaways, it’s hard to imagine anything from them even putting up a respectable fight in the championship. Thoughts?
This is the bracket i've been waiting for. Personally I think pre-Chamberlain Waits should be included but i'd completely understand why people wouldn't agree.
Yeah I mean I don’t visit anything prior to CW ever. I hardly really ever visit CW but totally understand lots of people do.
nah fuck that i want everyone to know im a menzingers hipster a lesson in the abuse of IT is really good anyway, too good to ommit. honestly it amazes me that ive listened to this band for almost 10 years has felt really good to basically watch them blow up in slow motion.
ah shit i didnt know we did ep's in these. thats good cuz i love hold on dodge, sunday morning is maybe my favorite menzingers song
Who here is a bigger fan than me that can post a master list of all the releases that should be included, as well as all relevant songs for the b-sides/bonus tracks/extras round?
Def include Toy Soldier, No Penance, and Cemetery's Garden. Don't know if we need to do the covers EP tho?
i think all the menzos b-sides, bonus tracks, and extras are: toy soldier, the freaks, no penance, cemetery's garden, irish goodbyes, the shakes, mea culpa cabana, and my friend chris
"The first night I got my fix Was with my brother and my friend Chris Stole my mothers Smirnoff vodka Mixed it with some cans of Fresca And we learned how our parents lived We found that we were good at it Meet me at the bottom or in between" Solid gold. Better be included.
all of the songs mentioned above and “Great Apes and Shiny Stones” I believe have been the only released b sides.
Okay so for the extras/odds and ends round we’ve got: Toy Soldier The Freaks No Penance Cemetery’s Garden Irish Goodbyes The Shakes Mea Culpa Cabana My Friend Chris Great Apes and Shiny Stones Can anyone think of anything else?
I’d maybe throw the Hold On, Dodge EP in with that round. Not sure where else it would belong, and I think Sunday Morning should definitely be included.
Good idea. I think that makes the most sense. That will give us 14 total tracks for that round, on par with the rounds that will follow.
Great Apes is such a quality song. I wish I had a high quality download of it. This whole thread is making me sad. Chamberlain Waits (and OTIP for those who started with Rented World or After the Party) are absolute gems. I still prefer CW to Rented World, After the Party, and Hello Exile. A Lesson in the Abuse has some fun tracks but the production is pretty gnarly. Please listen to them! That, and the first CWS album would be amazing to have re-recorded. Hold on, Dodge is always like the Senor & the Queen EP for Gaslight for me. Perfect transition between what the band was and what it was going to become.
