Like them or not, Simple Plan was a big part of the 2000's pop punk scene. Now it's time for them to get their very own bracket. With five albums to date, and a new one on the way, it might be fun to take a dive into their discography. Start date is TBD. 1. No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls 2. Still Not Getting Any... 3. Simple Plan 4. Get Your Heart On! 5. Taking One For The Team 6. Get Your Heart On - The Second Coming! / B-sides / Oddities Start date TBD
There's some good stuff to be found. I know their 3rd album got a lot of crap when it came out, but honestly it might be my favorite from them.
Just saw them last weekend with State Champs. Simple Plan was just as fun as when I saw them at Warped Tour in 2004. They got bottled and didn’t give a single fuck and kept pumping out the catchy hits. I’ve respected them since. Also, I’m in.
Brackets for each album are randomly generated. There's always the chance that 2 "popular" songs get matched up early, but that's part of the fun. Once we have a winner for each album, we will do a wild card round with the runner-ups. Then we finish with a final bracket of all the winners. Last one standing wins. Since I am running it, I will probably only vote if a tie-breaker is needed. Voting for each round in a bracket is usually open for a day, unless the results are leaning towards a landslide. Since this bracket won't have a huge amount of people participating, we might be able to move a bit faster than normal. But we'll see.
Makes me happy to see this band get some love for a change. I never understood the hate, like they are the worst band ever or something.
Agreed. They’re a fun pop punk band, I don’t listen to them thinking their music is going to change the world or anything. Their lyrics aren’t great but catchy as hell.
I honestly think that "Boom" is their catchiest song and couldv'e been sold to country pop-artisits like Florida Georgia Line lol. I love that song.
I also think Farewell is awesome off of that records, especially with Jordan's verse. He fits that song so well.
Yeah I actually liked their last record a lot. There are a few songs like I Don't Want to Be Sad and I Dream About You that I could do just fine without, but I like most of the songs. And both Boom and Farewell are among their best IMO.
Final reminder before the bracket starts tomorrow. I'm usually up a little after 4am central time, and will post round 1 for no pads, no helmets... just balls. Can't wait to revisit their discography and pick some winners!
