As a HUGE fan of 5SOS's first three albums, I was massively disappointed by CALM. There's a couple ok songs on it, but almost the entire second half is comprised of either painfully dull ballads or Maroon 5 rejects.

That being said, this is easily my favorite from this album. It's just really fun and catchy, which is what I want from these guys.

I get that they didn't want to pigeon hole themselves into one style, but I think the pop-punk/pop-rock style was a lot better for these guys. Them all sharing the vocals added a lot of versatility to their style, and they were actually able to show off their extremely solid instrumental chops.

Now the guitars are buried in the back of the mix, Ashton is almost completely replaced by a drum machine/played out trap percussion, and Luke is the only one who sings, besides Wildflower.

They just sound tired, and that's really sad. One of their most appealing qualities early on for me was that they seemed like they were having so much fun doing what they were doing, and that energy was infectious.

I'll always check out their new stuff when it comes, but I don't think I'll be coming back to this album. I know it won't happen, but I guess I'll just hope one day they'll put an obligatory return-to-roots album.

This is pretty boring, but this band has never been that great. I'd argue most of their success is due to their large youtube following of teenage girls
