Because I definitely needed an explanation in Layman's terms when I first started making butter: www.leafly.com/news/lifestyle/decarboxylation-101-oven www.bonappetit.com/story/a-beginners-guide-to-making-weed-butter/amp www.marijuanabreak.com/education/decarboxylation There are a ton of tutorials (text and video), for all sorts of levels of experience and understanding, you just have to find one that works and feels comfortable for you. Also, patience; dont rush it. tl;dr: seems the average is about 225°F, about 50 mins +/-. That's how I do it and my butter comes out pretty good each time. I'm really interested in the slow cooker method for making butter, not decarbing, but I'm pretty sure my slow cookers are way too big. I think they're a 4qt and a 6qt and they get super hot even on low. I'm scared I'll burn the butter.
re: the coffee thing, i was under the impression that with anything edible the thc needs something to bind to like fat or alcohol, is that part of why it would be kinda shitty even if the heat decarbs the weed? i was gonna make some syrup for coffee and i was thinking maybe it could work if i added weed to that (cause you gotta heat the syrup a while) but idk maybe the future isn't here yet
Yep basically but most known cannabinoids have a pretty limited path and they all lead to cbn so you're not going to get a major range of effects but there are definite ranges for sure. Especially when it comes to the terpenes. This is why vaporizers can lead to altered effects.
It does if you're infusing but if you're just consuming the raw plant material like you would be in this case then it's not exactly required. Adding in some heavy cream could potentially help your body metabolize it better and you might get a slightly better buzz but it's no guarantee it would even infuse without a consistent heat source.
It just tastes better if you bind the THC to some kind of fat and then filter out the plant matter. If you're just throwing keif in your coffee or whatever, it'll work (assuming it decarbs), but it's probably not gonna taste great.
i'm still trying to figure out why i can get absolutely blitzed from putting butter on things, or in coffee, but when i use the butter to make edibles, nothing happens. i've even made a batch of brownies on really low heat and nothing.
I don’t know anything about decarbing weed but I have a masters in chemistry and I know decarboxylating is getting rid of a carboxyl group. I looked it up and that’s exactly what it is. If I had to make an educated guess I’d guess that decarbing turns more of the bud into the active thc after the heat reaction which makes you more high. I’m very High right now also so I’m just having fun with this
got 4 more of those 225mg Punch Bars today. had a little around 4:30, ate dinner around 6:30, and fell asleep around 7:30
Had to go back just to say what a great recommendation this is. Just finished the first episode and it is PERFECT stoner watching
I’ve been watching like two episodes a night after smoking and just before going to bed. Perfect way to end the night. The “spacecast” format it so great.
Yeah, the amount of detail and effort that has gone into making it seem natural, it's incredible. It's literally just like listening to a podcast with some wacky visuals.
I watched I think 5 episodes of that Midnight Gospel yesterday and I feel like my mind has been erased.
If I were to move to a place that had medical weed, or if it suddenly became legal where I live, I'd be skipping work to be the first person in line for a card. There's no chance I'd be slacking on getting a card. It would be my immediate priority as soon as it became humanly possible to get one.
I looked into applying for one but in NH you basically need to have a terminal illness or chronic pain that did not respond to other treatment. Nothing for anxiety or sleep issues.
Yeah, NY seems to be really tight on the illnesses too, and you need specific related conditions to the really severe illnesses. But flowers/buds and edilbes are NOT included so its not really worth it to me to get one. If it ever is fully legalized, my local government has already banned the sale and consumption anyway. But we have that no bail law, so really what's the point?
Yeah that’s how it is with NH with the conditions. I think we passed (or are working on passing) a bill that would legalize it but sale would still be prohibited.
Yeah I think both chambers of the legislative branch voted in favor of legalization, but Sununu said he will veto literally any legalization bill and brags about decriminalizing 3/4 oz instead like it's this historic gamechanger lol. Unfortunately we need the legislature to overturn a veto with 2/3 vote and I don't think we'll be there any time soon Prohibiting sale is so dumb. Why legalize it and then decide against generating tax revenue from it? Seems completely against the state's best interest
