I love seeing "Sick Tight" in there as one of the album cuts. Tons of energy in that song, From Chaos is prime 311.
@Smee22 a few pages back in this thread (a few years ago lol) I did a revised Uplifter tracklist. All of these songs are on Spotify (5 of them are outtakes/bsides from the same era) so you can easily make that into a playlist. I think it flows better and is up there with Stereolithic/Mosaic quality. 1. Hey You 2. It's Alright 3. Golden Sunlight 4. Week Of Saturdays 5. I Like The Way 6. Daisy Cutter 7. Too Much Too Fast 8. Never Ending Summer 9. Two Drops In The Ocean 10. Sun Come Through 11. Get Down 12. Jackpot 13. My Heart Sings 14. Simplify
Sick Tight, One And The Same and What The?! seem like they have been in the pile of "deep cuts we're playing them at almost every show" for a bit now. I mean, I love all three songs so I didn't complain when they played them, but still lol. At the show I went to last September, they did play Loco and Jackolantern's Weather. Those were the only real "surprises" whereas the three album cuts I mentioned above were played at most shows leading up to that so I sort of knew they'd pop up. Just crazy thinking back to the days where you had no idea what was coming. It might be some Grassroots deep cut, followed by an Evolver deep cut, followed by some obscure b-side.
Actually sorry - nope, I lied. Day 1 of 311 POW WOW in 2011. 311 Setlist at 311 Pow Wow Festival 2011 You'll notice no Transistor cuts .... but that's because they played the whole album in full the next night. (As well as all of Universal Pulse, peppered with some random tunes) 311 Setlist at 311 Pow Wow Festival 2011 maaaaaaaaaaaan I miss those days.
We'd have a different tweaked album. But we have Too Much Too Fast right in the heart of it, track one of side b, where it belongs. 1) Get Down 2) Sun Come Through 3) It's Alright 4) India Ink 5) Golden Sunlight 6) Jackpot 7) Too Much Too Fast 8) Never Ending Summer 9) How Long Has It Been 10) Something Out of Nothing 11) Hey You 12) Two Drops In The Ocean
Ooooooh How Long Has It Been!!! I do dig that one too …. nicely done. I’ll listen to this order for sure.
I actually got into 311 with From Chaos, so I heard Soundsystem when going through their discography.
Soundsystem was my first real 311 experience back in 99/2000 and has arguably been my favorite ever since. I had always liked them from my older brother listening to the Blue Album and Grassroots, but when I was finally old enough for my own CD player (lol) Soundsystem and Transistor were the first albums I borrowed from him. Soundsystem was definitely the one I favored back then though because it was much more cohesive and straightforward. That tour was also my first 311 show in 2000 when I was 10 years old.
My older sister got the Blue Album in Christmas 1995. I remember listening to it a lot because I loved the way the disc looked and the pic of them with the sort of alien eyes painted over them freaked me out. The only song I really remember from that time was "Jackolantern's Weather" and loving it because I was always a spooky, horror-loving kid.
Can’t wait to hear this album later this week. There are a couple of tracks that have leaked so far that are both fairly solid. Looking forward to the rest.
There's a podcast about the 311 song Amber on the latest episode of 60 Songs That Explain The 90's (the 2000's) “Amber”—311
Loved that podcast when it was the 90s songs but haven't listened to any from this season. Will check that out.
311 have been changing the profile pictures of their official socials to the self titled blue album cover.. maybe their gonna be an announcement coming up or something
HAPPY 311 DAY, friends!!!! I put together a little career-spanning playlist for the day, sticking to 25 songs and trying to give it a bit of a mixtape flow as well. Enjoy!
