Holy moly. How do they not have a thread? Mosaic comes out this week. (A lot of good songs are on this thing) Music is my favorite album of theirs. Whats yours?
Favorite record is probably Soundsystem. Top 10 songs: Beautiful Disaster Stealing Happy Hours Eons You Wouldn't Believe I'll Be Here Awhile Beyond the Gray Sky Speak Easy There's Always An Excuse Golden Sunlight Weightless
Mosaic is such a solid listen, my word. As a fan of these guys for 20 years I don't get how these last two albums have been so quality, but I'm so happy.
Listened to Mosaic all day yesterday. Awesome album. I think any hardcore and casual fan of 311 would like it. -Tracks 9-17 is a killer stretch of songs. -Wildfire is probably my favorite track on the album (That bass line)
the variety of sounds on this record, largely due to John Feldmann producing 5 songs and a host of co-songwriters working with the band for the first time, is realllly interesting to listen to.
Was there seriously no thread for this band? Damn! I was a casual fan for years. I never dug into them beyond radio play. Bought Stereolithic on a whim because it released while I was on a "Babymoon" in Key Largo. Right place/right time because I loved it. I need to dig into MOSAIC but I'm now jumping on anything new they release.
Its funny....my 3 least favorite songs on the album are all produced by Feldman and I didnt realize that until just looking it up on wikipedia. Too Much To Think, Til The City's On Fire, and Places That The Mind Goes are the only songs I skip haha.
"Face in the Wind" is a cool one because the rapping comes in so unexpectedly. The song takes a complete turn after the smooth beginning.
that song is the only one on the album credited to Tim songwriting-wise, if you weren't aware. Probably why it's such a badass track.
Ive been obsessed with this album. Wildfire, One And The Same, and Perfect Mistake are my current top 3.
Haha I didn't know those were the songs he produced. Til the City's on Fire is the worst song on the record. I can see those terrible lyrics fitting right in on California.
I don't remember what song it was but there was a great part where they pick up the tempo and start playing fast like on "Livin' & Rockin'" They should do that more often.
Piling on the love for Mosaic. I never see any love for "Days of '88", which is maybe my fav on the album after "Too Late". Days is so fun and SA and Nick did a synchronized 80s dance to it on stage last night in Chicago. "Too Late" is easily their best song in quite some time. I hope it becomes a live staple. It sounded HUGE.
One and the Same has been a real jam for me lately. Wildfire might be my overall favorite next to Perfect Mistake.
Debuted at #6 on Billboards top 200 with 39,000 total units. 37,000 in pure sales. Mosaic has also gotten great reviews. Awesome album still. Was my jam yesterday for the fourth.
ive always enjoyed most of their stuff but never really cared when new stuff came out... i LOVE the new album! the vibe of this song is fucking amazing
