I don't know that Point A necessarily leads to Point B. Is the equation that the less time you have as a musician, the more likely you'll sound like Imagine Dragons?
I can't tell if the cult leader stuff is a meme, Leto is creepy and a weird guy but that cult thing was clearly just like a fan event similar to those pop-punk cruises And yeah both of these songs suck ass
I'm gonna get dragged for this comment but I've kinda enjoyed all 3 songs so far. They're not life changing, but they're fine.
I listened to about 45 secs of each song this morning, this is confounding. It’s like Owl City adjacent, what a strange pivot to make a record with almost zero live drums.
This is one of the most toothless, risk-averse records I've heard in recent memory. I truly thought it could not get worse than their last one, but, welp.
Watched Leto's Zane Lowe interview because I'm a masochist. How can one human be THAT unlikeable. "I'm not so concerned with leaving a legacy." Yeah, with a record featuring songs like Stuck I can see that Jared. Doesn't take a fucking rocket scientist to figure that out.
I actually think Stuck is a solid fun pop song but also like… the best song on here by quite a bit lmao. Definitely makes sense why it’s the opener AND lead single because most of this is just dull.
I got bored midway through track 2 and threw on A Beautiful Lie then listened to This is War right after. Don’t think the band will ever hit close to their first 3 albums.
He does but do y’all every just zone out and think about how a Hollywood actor had an emo band? Never doesn’t astound me.
LOL This may be my favorite comment that I've seen on this forum. You just gave me 'nam flashbacks to kid clothes shopping a few weeks ago.
Watched a clip from the iHEart fest. SO fucking bad, you can literally hear him singing over the backing track at a lazier/lower register.
I saw them perform way back when they only had two albums and I remember Leto was so focused on climbing to the top of the stage that he fucked up and sang the same lyric twice.
Ouuuff, so I was only able to get halfway through the third song of this new album before throwing on their self titled album. It really is a shame what this "band" turned into. They had such a unique sound. I'll always have a soft spot for This is War though. It was so much fun to listen to late at night bombing hills in SoCal on my longboard in college. Such fond memories.
The first three records all still hold up today…I also highly questions those songwriting credit on those records. Tomo was a much bigger part of this band, it’s no coincidence once he left that guitars essentially disappeared.
I can't quite figure out the Leto brothers aim with this stuff. These are two 50+ dudes seemingly trying to still be "relevant" to the TikTok crowd.
“Kings and Queens” is a Top 10 song of all time for me. Musically, lyrically, it all just clicks, and the music video was dope as well
I'll never forget hearing my cousin's husband tell me that Leto basically held the mic to the crowd for the entire set in Miami, when touring for This Is War. And when he did sing he was off pitch and out of breath from running around like a maniac. Felt like that album was their peak. Been chasing the dragon ever since.
