I completely agree with this 100%. I'd love for a mix of A Beautiful Lie and This Is War with a sprinkle of the Self Titled. The chants need to go, they were at their best when Jared just let loose. I saw a clip surface on the internet with a clip of the new single over a football game. I hope they aren't pushing for the FOB and SWS style sports singles.
I hope he lets his pipes do the talking and not over the top crowds chants. He honestly is a great vocalist but sometimes tries to go for too much bells and whistles and it becomes more of a distraction than anything.
Completely agree. I think it's why the first two albums are up there for me because of that although I do love TIW too.
Yepppp these are Jared Leto lyrics alright: Thirty Seconds To Mars Premiere The Lyrics To Their New Single "Walk On Water" | Genius
Sounds like it is following on from LLF+D lyrically to me? We are in the last hour before the songs out. I'm highly anticipating this!
"Or as his friend Jared Leto, who collaborated with Zedd on a to-be-released 30 Seconds to Mars song (and has also taken him rock climbing), puts it: “He is a relentless worker and really puts in the time. He is not someone who just shows up and takes selfies all day." Zedd, Dance Music's Anti-Bro, on Making Hits for Selena, Kesha and Liam and Why DJs Should 'Speak Up' On Trump Uh oh...
not into it. He sounds weird in the verses, the chants are super lame, none of the melodies are grabbing me and the music is super bland.
I shouldn't be surprised they went this route, but it's still disappointing. If they were gonna go full-on pop, you'd think they'd want a stronger lead single than this, not a fan.
Up In The Air was in the pop direction but I still really liked it and it was interesting. This is? I don't know what to think other than I miss the old 30STM... First thoughts are it's very repetitive.
Like everything on the last 2 albums, it's not bad but the production choices hold it back. SO. MUCH. CHANTING.
Which, all snark aside, is fine. I like some Imagine Dragons stuff, but this didn't connect for me. Didn't think they'd go this direction.
According to his beats1 interview, he's written 120 songs, narrowed it down to 11, and ONLY four are actually finished. We will see about that 2017 release lmao.
This Is War is a really good album, I'd consider LLF+D a watered down version of This Is War. The chanting does get repetitive though. 3 albums in with the chanting I'd imagine it's their thing now. Wow yeah there is no chance the album will release this year then. The Zedd song was apparently finished last year too so what the hell has been going on?
I don't understand why they've chosen to bury Jared's voice so much. He has a strong enough voice on his own without the chants and effects. So far I'm underwhelmed. I'm hoping the rest of the album has stronger tracks on it and I'm looking forward to seeing the film even though I'm sure most of that lyric video was stock footage...
