Correction to this headline: it's not It's own event, and it isn't replacing Equestrian as a discipline. It's replacing the equestrian portion of the Modern Pentathlon.
I like how they added Compound Bow to the Archery events just to give the USA an archery medal. US dominates Compound internationally, but the Olympics for forever have only had Recurve which South Korea is the dominant country in.
