Dodgers can most likely have him back at trade deadline, we’re almost certainly still selling. We don’t have the pitching to do anything but get swept out of the playoffs
You’re not going to succeed in making me feel bad about the Cardinals finally doing the right thing and picking a direction by selling this offseason Okay maybe a little, say hi to Willson for me
Love Willson so much. But yeah it was the 100% right move for the Cardinals to make. I wasn’t trying to make you feel bad, it’s just kind of ironic that the Cardinals are having a better season than the Sox when they were in a sell mode in the winter. Fucking Breslow.
I just have no clue what the hell ownership has been thinking since 2018, basically none of what they have done has made any sense. I would love to know exactly what limitations Bloom was put on before saying yeah he should have been kept. Breslow hasn’t been a total disaster, I would give him a solid C-/D+, Crochet trade and extension, Anthony extension and revamping the farm system on the pitching side have been pluses but his minuses have been pretty bad too. If I’m Henry I fire Breslow yesterday and beg Theo to run the team until the offseason and then I throw a shitload of money at a quality replacement and gave them full authority and a blank checkbook to turn things around.
I have watched this sport for 30+ years and I can confidently say I could not explain what a balk is for a billion dollars
I don’t really know anything and am obviously biased because I want the guy we hired to be good BUT it seems clear to me Breslow isn’t cut out for the public-facing aspects of the job. How good he is at running a club behind closed doors is more opaque because, like you said, we don’t know what limitations ownership has put on the post-Dombrowski leadership groups. Maybe Bloom turns out great for us, maybe he doesn’t, but it seems at least possible he’s really good at his job. It doesn’t seem possible that Breslow is fit to run a club at this point.
Breslow isn’t fit for his job because he has zero people skills, thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room because he went to Yale and is extremely difficult to do business with because he’s not flexible. I think he would be fine as A voice in the room but not THE voice in the room. Bloom from what I gather from people is an extremely likable guy and has a smart baseball mind.
