Never ever tell HR anything other than “I’m quitting”

Your goal as an employee should be to avoid HR like the plague. HR is Lava. They have cooties. Stay. Away.

I'm also very acutely aware of who my HR is at my current company, due to one of my buddies being an HR Coordinator here last year. His former boss, and boss's boss, are two of the dumbest, most retaliatory people I know.

  5. HR is verifying job title, start date, end date, and eligibility for re-hire. they aren't providing references and unless your office is extremely small, no one in HR is gonna go to your manager to tell them they just processed an employment verification (which is used for more than just job apps!) for you and get you fired.

I absolutely promise you the first thing HR is doing is calling your boss to inform them of a churn risk. 1,000%. You couldn’t be more wrong here.

  14. Employment verification is dumb

  15. employment verification is used for more than just hiring processes, like loans, government benefits, child support, rental applications, etc.

Dylan I’m literally a manager of people and I’m telling you you’re wrong lol

  17. Dylan isn’t wrong about that at all lol. I still wouldn’t give my current employer just in case.

HR can tell the difference between a new job asking for employment verification and a loan.

  20. I was acting HR at my last company for six months and had to do a few verifications and they always came through a third party.

Yeah Dylan isn't wrong that employment verification is used for other things, but he's absolutely wrong to ever give that information to a new employer lol
