I was only saying that 'system QB' is a lame insult and doesn't really mean much to me. If the coaching staff is set up to take advantage of someone's strengths, even if there are limitations, go for it. I think most NFL fans would shut out all that outside noise if their team was running a 'system' year after year and winning (even if unspectacularly). I am not debating who is and who isn't a system QB.

Sure, I don't disagree. Just not really what I was responding to in the Tweet Josh shared.

As a fan of a team who seems to be interested in Milroe?, I’m really nervous. Lol

  8. How I’d currently rank the likelihood of what the Panthers will do at #8….

    1. Jalon Walker
    2. Tet McMillan
    3. Mason Graham

I think Graham will go top 5, more specifically at #5 to Jacksonville. Lock it in. And that’s why I have him 3rd on this list. I just don’t think he’ll make it. But you never know. If Saints make a big offer to move up, Jags are a team that could take the trade just like in our current mock.

Walker is their guy imo and I think there’s a….70% (?) chance he makes it to our pick. But it will basically be dependent on where Sanders goes. If teams pass on Sanders, it obviously increases the odds that Walker is taken ahead of us instead.

I’ve been seeking out clips of the draft talking heads discussing the WRs in this class and more specifically McMillan. I still don’t really know what to make of him, but what I’ve been listening to has kinda talked me more into the idea of taking him. A few people have made the good point of this being a massive year for Bryce’s development. We all know his story. Horrific year 1. Even worse start to year 2. But the last half year 2 was a complete 180. I’d argue he was close to a top 10 QB the last half of the season. And he was getting better with each game.

I know the defense was putrid and addressing the issues on that side of the ball is a must if we’re going to be a good team. But….Bryce becoming a legit starting QB for the long-term is also a must. And I think in order for that to happen, we really need a big-time WR1 on the roster. And we need it now. I’ve been low on McMillan but part of me feels like I’m overthinking it with him. He’s not a perfect prospect by any means. But I think if you remove yourself from the weeds and just watch his games you walk away super impressed. He isn’t the speedster that I think we need, but he still brings a lot to the table that we don’t have. If he truly is as good as some of these draft guys say he is, then I think he’d be a great addition to the offense and we are a much better team going forward. So I guess I’m good with it now.

i still don’t fully understand why it seems Warren was never remotely in the conversation

  10. I wouldn’t be mad at Warren. I think he’s great. But not sure about the value of taking a TE in the top 10. Similar to a RB in the top 10.

This made me look up some draft histroy on TEs and the LIons have taken two TEs in the top 10 in the past ten years, and neither of them are on the team.

Yeah, top 10 TE is just not good value. Especially when usually the first year for a rookie TE is a throwaway learning year most the time. RBs are better value that high and can make impacts quick if used properly.

  16. Ok ignore my long post above. I don’t think we’re taking McMillan lol

  17. When I said bad value, I wasn’t really referring to the amount of times taking a TE that early failed. Although that is concerning lol I more so meant the value of what you are paying them. Like, yes, taking the best player available is a sound strategy. But I do think you have to factor in contract values with it being a hard capped sport.

If you land a difference maker at OL, DL, WR, QB in the top 10, you are getting them at incredible value. I know I’m stating the obvious here. It’s just something I think teams are paying more attention to now. The cap is 280m. The job is to fit as much talent under that 280m as possible. Having a top OL/QB/WR/EDGE on a rookie deal allows to you fit more talent under that cap compared to a RB on a rookie deal that might be equal to what a top RB gets as a free agent.

i don’t disagree with value if it were any other team. we are one of the talentless teams in the league. getting one of the three or four blue chip players in the draft is just simply more important. worrying about positional value in the draft is something the team can do once they have anyone of roster value on the squad

like yes receiver is a position with nearly infinitely more positional value than tight end. cool. warren is a better receiver than anyone in the draft that isn’t travis hunter. honestly, loveland might be third lol

If the Patriots drafted Jeunty at 4, what would be your reaction?

Agreed and I think early in the draft, especially if a team is picking top ten like the Panthers, BPA should be the approach. If you want to use positional value as a tiebreaker, then sure, but, like you suggested, I think they can worry about positional value more when they finally have a stronger foundation of young talent

don’t really think it’s very comparable given the volume of RBs and the volume of TEs in this class

i also think you’re fooling yourself a bit if you’re saying some part of you wouldn’t be happy about landing a guy who could pretty easily project to replicating what bijan has done.

to be clear, i would be stoked if walker or graham were the pick. i have been admittedly harsh on tet but i think picking him simply bc the positional value of WR vs TE when warren is better at tet’s actual job is just kind of silly espn draft expert nerd shit
