i'm not big on Bregman's ceiling at this point for obvious reasons but he has a great floor. and i get this upcoming season is his year 31 season so bat + defense can leave him at any time, but we haven't seen it yet especially defense, he's been very stable, really really solid, and also plays a lot of games per season

i've had a bit of a bias against Bregman because he hasn't had an elite season since pre-covid, but he's still really solid, almost metronomic

Even without those things I think he ends up being a terrible contract

 

yeah i dont think any of that matters when it comes to winning ballgames which i imagine you would like to do and he would help you do at least in the short term, like the first 2 to 3 years of the contract

 

Boone still has to choose which pitchers to put in a game so it's sadly all irrelevant for me

baseballsavant loves his range but not his arm, so certainly a candidate for second base! and he’d pepper the monster well

as a total outsider, I think that would be a good move for the sox

Campbell is a name I dont know. Looks like he has raked in the minors so far, sox have some really interesting bats on the farm

didn’t realize Marcelo Mayer has missed a lot of time each of the last two years, that’s a real shame

I think if they could get Bergman on a 4 year deal they would jump on it but I don’t think they want to go more than that. But yeah it’s looking like it’s one of those two.

 

Sox have been extra careful with Mayer not wanting to push him with nagging injuries but this is a big year for him to prove he can be healthy all year.

Campbell had a monster year last year and jumped past Mayer in the prospect rankings. Sox have two top 10 prospects in Anthony and Campbell which is why I think they can be a real threat this year. Just hope they get another SPer and a closer.

 

Holding out hope that Slaten ends up being that guy but I’ll never say no to more pitchers

 

Phillies should sign Alonso just because it would amuse me personally

and make Schwarber play outfield again so Alonso can DH because that shit definitely amuses me personally lol

Cubs fans probably have a different favorite memory of their WS run, but watching him in the field was incredibly entertaining.

 

he tore his ACL in the third game of the season in 2016 and made a shock recovery to be able to DH for the World Series, but did not play the field at all

but the broader point that Schwarber's defense left a lot to be desired on either side of the 2016 season is indubitably true

That’s exactly it haha, he always looked so so so bad out there but still sometimes made some okayish plays
