Not necessarily upset that the Red Sox didn’t sign Bergman but I do miss circa 2003 to 2018ish when the Red Sox acted like a big market team and actually spent money on free agents. I understand they added to their payroll via trades but the point remains.

 

The whole situation on both sides (Sox and Devers) was freaking weird and everyone overreacted and acted like children.

The return was never about getting good players it was to dump Devers’ salary.

Either way just a colossal fuck up on the Red Sox part that probably could have been avoided if they communicated better.

 

I’d be shocked. I think it’s more likely that Duran or Abreu gets moved and they ultimately get their 2B/3B that way. Who that player is? I have no freaking clue.

Perhaps circle back to Arizona about Marte? But that’s going to cost you Early/Tolle plus. Not sure their farm system can handle that hit.
