at the beginning of the day I was perfectly fine with them working on getting Jarren Duran and calling it a offseason

I saw a potential Hernandez LF, Duran center and Pages RF and I was like yeah that sounds good

now twitter has me feeling like dodgers are literally just going to get everyone and everything

 

And reality doesn’t have you feeling this way?

not sure i'm buying the skubal dodgers report since its coming from nobody at all except one KTLA anchor. certainly anything can happen, but his "the deal is basically done" tweet has concerningly little additional details that someone seemingly in that level of know would have.

 

If the Tigers trade Skubal to the Dodgers, they should be demoted to AAA

 

Other teams should put together better packages then if they want Skubal. Dodgers trade package has looked like the only realistic and good haul for him I’ve seen

 

Yup the dodgers are in the unique position where they can afford to gut their very good farm, still be able to refill and have the money for an insane extension

 

Hate the dodgers all I can but gotta appreciate them being a large market that actually loves the fuck it we ball mentality

 

i think the issue holding up the trade market is Scott Boras. he is absolutely not going to let Skubal sign a major extension before he even gets to hit FA for the first time. it feels like a trade for him now will be a 1 year rental which, i can't see many teams giving up the farm for that. if the Mets could trade Jonah Tong/Brandon Sproat (or both), Jett Williams, and a few lineup ready guys like Acuna or Baty/Vientos, theyre gonna wanna ink that 10 year $400m deal ASAP and i don't think Boras is gonna advise his client to want to do that right now.

I mean if the dodgers are willing to give him the biggest pitcher deal ever does it matter if he makes it to FA? Who’s gonna outbid LA

 

I also think the major hangup is our GM/owner. They’re so risk averse that they’re terrified of trading him and think that letting him play out his contract, make the playoffs again, and then getting the comp draft pick is the easiest path. It sucks and it’s absolutely the worst decision you could make. If you truly were going to say that you want to play out his contract, they should be doing all they can to build a team for this season to truly compete.

I’m not championing it but who has LA missed out on recently that they wanted

the Mets can also theoretically outbid them and they are the only team seemingly willing to do that
