I guess when it comes to cap stuff for this sport I try to think what would happen in the nfl/nba if there were no cap. It would not be good. It would be very very bad. And not because certain owners would be reluctant to spend.

I also get that this sport has more competitive balance so it isn’t really a necessity right now but I do feel like it’s coming and I’m not gonna cry about it when it gets here

I think they should make Bob Nutting sell the pirates.

I don’t like the cap idea because it just gives the owners who don’t want to spend/compete a new excuse. It won’t actually change behaviors other than limit the teams trying to win.

Other than the ghost runner I am fine with all the recent rule changes. Pitch clock has been fantastic

NHL made a cap after not having one and it resulted in 3/4 teams winning multiple titles lol I don’t think the salary cap is some magic fix. Baseball is fine. It’s a weird sport where even spending the most doesn’t always result in championships. This being the first back to back in over 20 years shows that. Idk. Just feels like such an easy excuse and cop out for other teams.

Also the MLB has the most variety in championship winners of the big four leagues this century, which is cool. Granted an expanded playoff format helps but still

I think restrictions on deferrals could be very good though

I’m about owners spending but I think the deferrals have gotten out of hand. Nothing new but enough to warrant some kind of restriction

Idk how though I am not a commissioner

  13. Has nothing to do with the dodgers winning - the disparity in spending is what’s broken

Then can you explain specifically what your deal is because I don’t understand lol

So it has everything to do with your teams owners refusing to spend. Got it.

  16. When did I say anything about the brewers specifically? Usually if you have a top 10 payroll you will win the World Series - you have to spend money to win but the disparity between the teams that do and the teams that don’t is the issue

Fuck the penny pinching billionaire owners who don’t invest in their own teams, first and foremost

  19. Another good thing would be getting rid of local television deals too

  20. Yeah the pirates are just as bad as the dodgers are but in different ways when it comes to money

If you’re top 15 you have a chance, so again, blame cheap owners.

  22. What about the last decade + ? Maybe I should’ve said top 15 but it’s whatever

I’m excited for the dodgers to sign Kyle Tucker and bo bichette in a few weeks

  24. Well it’s headed for a lockout in one season so clearly it is at some level

Rays and Braves have had some insane runs while penny pinching

But either way respecting players enough to pay them is good so idk
