I forgot to post about Rizzo the other day but a few things Red Sox wise pop out to me about him.

Would have been interesting to see what would have happened if that 3 team trade in 2009 actually happened that sent Felix Hernandez to the Red Sox, Adrian Gonzalez to the Mariners and prospects (I believe both Justin Masterson and Josh Reddick were included) to both SD and Seattle happened. Rizzo probably remains with the Red Sox. Damn the Seattle GM who got cold feet at the last minute.

If Bobby Dalbec doesn’t get insanely hot in July of 2021, I would have to bet Rizzo gets traded to the Sox and they possibly beat the Astros in the ALCS and who knows what happens in the WS. Instead Bloom sticks with Dalbec who is unplayable in September and October and the Sox having a black hole in RF and 1B in the playoffs instead of sticking Rizzo at 1st, moving Verdugo to RF and Schwarber to LF.

Either way Rizzo had a great career and was an even better person. He was definitely one of those Sox prospects I hated to trade away.
