The Sox return for Mookie obviously turned out bad but the two trades aren’t really a fair comparison. Soto had 2 and a half years of team control until he was a free agent while Mookie was only a year away and the Dodgers took on David Price and the majority of his contract, people forget that he was in the deal all the time, which lessened any return prospect wise going back. A better (but not perfect) comparison would be the Soto to NY trade.
