I have tomorrow off so I was like oh maybe a dodgers game since pirates are in town and could be decent price It’s Skenes vs Yamamoto lol nevermind then
I don’t know why it would. It has zero to do with the eventual trade. It was a comment made to me back in I believe 2016 or 2017 by a member of the Red Sox when we were talking about how good Mookie is and his future. I heard the opposite from someone with the Yankees about Judge. The worry was because he was so big he’d get hurt and then drop off a cliff one year and never be the same like Richie Sexson.
yeah I’m not writing Mookie off due to the sickness just yet but if by September it looks bad then I’m worried having Mookie be mid at fielding and then mid hitting will have me truly concerned
I would think after Judge’s April last year people would pump the brakes on writing superstars off after 1 bad month. I don’t think Mookie is cooked either even if he had a bad 2025 I still wouldn’t think he was done. If the numbers aren’t there by mid 2026, then I would start to worry. I do think moving him to SS was a bad idea though.
I think they should have stuck with Edman to SS and then Betts to second base but the outfield is looking rough right now so they are really in a tough spot.
every player gets a pass cause it’s the high month also they are all watching basketball and hockey playoffs
Nick Kurtz college baseball team is at his second career game since they play Stanford tomorrow he was literally playing with them this time last year
I don’t follow the Dodgers too closely but why even move him off of RF to begin with? Was his defense at 2nd that good?
nah. They moved him away from RF just due to his speed and health reasons. They also like to use platoons for outfield so it seems like they thought that help the transition.
A lifetime of Boston spots radio conditioned me. It’s April 24th and the season is over because we lost 2 out of 3 to the Mariners
haven't done an interesting stathead/play-index query in a while i was trying to see if i could find the most of a certain hit type a pitcher has given up in a game where that was the only hit type, such as giving up 6 hits and all 6 were doubles or something like that unfortunately, i can't get that level of specificity on stathead for doubles and triples, but i can do it for hits allowed = home runs allowed when every hit allowed was a home run, the most allowed in a game by a starting pitcher is 5, which has happened eight times the most interesting of the games is Mat Latos (great "let's remember some guys" candidate) on May 27, 2012—Rockies vs Reds Latos pitched into the 8th inning, giving up 5 hits, all solo home runs, and earned the win because the Reds won 7-5 lol also the opposing pitcher was Jamie Moyer who gave up 4 home runs himself. 9 combined homers allowed by starting pitchers might be a record, maybe i'll see if i can figure that out easily stathead query: Player Pitching Game Stats Finder - Baseball | Stathead.com Mat Latos gamelog: Colorado Rockies vs Cincinnati Reds Box Score: May 27, 2012 | Baseball-Reference.com
turns out the Latos-Moyer game is tied for the most combined homers given up by starting pitchers with one other game: August 18th, 2017 between the Angels and O's Andrew Heaney for the Angels gave up 4 homers Jeremy Hellickson for the O's gave up 5 homers 9 combined also figuring that out wasnt easy lol i've never really used excel before
