The Best Movies of 2025 - The Ringer

 

Nayman has the most eclectic lists.

 

Afternoons of Solitude is a really tough watch. I can see why it topped the Cahiers du Cinema list.

 

Unless Film Comment and Reverse Shot throw MASSIVE curveballs, this is the fewest eoty films ive added to my list. Thank you LA lol

 

Always arguably the most important list since Reverse Shot waits so long.

 

I should be able to see everything before Christmas for the first time ever.

 

Once again plugging Resurrection to the international/arthouse film fans. Dying to see it a second time. Unsure if it’ll show here but Philly Film Society usually gets the good stuff.

 

One Battle After Another feels like the biggest consensus pick since maybe Boyhood.

 

Sirat is terrific.

I don't generally try to warn people about content, but it is a tough, gory watch.

 

Another great film.

If I Had Legs I'd Kick You was also very good. I fell asleep before I could watch By the Stream last night.

 

I was not prepared for Liberté after only seeing Pacifiction, he will not get me again.

 

The Secret Agent will be in a distant theater on Thursday. I should be able to get to that, Marty Supreme, and Avatar 3 before it is list time.

 

i wont bother with avatar, the other 2 wont be here till Jan 22.

 

has anyone seen anything on this list? I think I've seen 3 of them and only have heard of maybe another 5-6

Reflection in a Dead Diamond has been on my list

 

Only heard of like two of those but haven’t seen any. Cool list. Will def add some of those to my watchlist

 

I might be able to squeeze one of Hamnet, Secret Agent, or Marty Supreme in tomorrow. Avatar will be in theaters for a while so that’ll wait until the new year. OBAA is the leader for best of the year for me at the moment though.

 

Trying to see Resurrection and Secret Agent in the next couple of days then I should be caught up (enough to make a list)
