Listened to the new Spiritbox and Arch Enemy albums, as well as the latest Kittie one from last year.

 

2020s are pop-based, rock is like watching TV for the ads.

 

For me there is plenty of rock and metal bands keeping things modern like Turnstile, knocked loose, spiritbox, loathe, and one of the bigger modern bands sleep token they are all doing great stuff.

 

*Everyone* knows Nirvana from the 90s and Linkin Park from the 2000s. The artists you mentioned, only the dying breed of rock enthusiasts have even heard of.

 

Weak ass argument. Turnstile have a song in a Taco Bell commercial and have a song featured in a popular Netflix show. Knocked Loose were on late night television. Spiritbox just performed with Megan The Stallion at Coachella.

 

Who's Linkin Park?

 

Sleep token has been insanely popular with this newer generation of music fans and got even bigger on TikTok so no that is factually wrong.

 

Nothing funnier to me than "X genre of Y medium is dying out." I see it a lot in books too. But like, there's literally more of everything than there's ever been in all of human history.

 

Also there has been a shift where in the past there was more of a monoculture where we all kind of knew of the same artists, shows, movies now there is so many microcultures that it is easy to be oblivious to how popular certain things are if you aren't a fan of it.

 

Exactly why the end of the year lists full of country music baffles me on this website. To each their own I guess.
