Ugh this game just went to absolute shit in the second half of the of the 2nd period and never got better. Were up 3-2 and were dominating the offensive zone before one defensive miscue ended up allowing Montreal to tie it and then everything unraveled. I just don't see this team winning another in Montreal on Saturday to force a game 7. I'd love to be wrong though.
rip ducks I was hoping the turnstile love could carry them to the finals my hope now is avs vs canes for the final
Lack of experience really showed in the pivotal moments. Mistake sfter mistake. A lot of it from some of the vets too. I wouldn’t be upset if John Carlson decided not to re-sign here. Gudas is also likely gone so we can finally have a real captain.
I forget whether it was the first or second period last night but John Carlson had one of the worst neutral zone giveaways I’ve ever seen last night
definitely a tough end for the Ducks, but that team has a bright future. I can see them and San Jose being the "new guard" in that conference within the next 2-3 years.
i don't see either of these teams doing well against carolina but we'll see. Neither team seems to know how to play defense lol
Carolina has had a cake walk to the ECF and could be rusty after a 12 day break haha. Sabres defense was fine tonight but Lyon almost cost them the game.
i laugh at anyone who claims carolina has had a cakewalk to the ECF. Flyers and Sens were both top 5 teams in the league post olympic break lol Vegas and Colorado both had much easier paths imo
Late to this, but yeah, the talk about how easy the Canes path is so overblown. Sens were one of the hottest teams entering the playoffs and people thought it’d be a good series. And like said above, other teams have had just as easy of paths. It happens. (I agree the playoff format is dumb though).
While losing in overtime in game 7 hurts, this team started the season 11-14-4 and were well on their way to extending their playoff drought to 15 years. If you told me on December 8th that this team would then go 39-9-5 the rest of the season, win the division, win their first playoff series since 2007, and take round 2 to game 7 overtime (after being down 2-0 in the game) I would have said "sign me up". What a ride this season was. One day it'll be our time.
I guess that's at least some silver lining in another heartbreaking playoff loss in Buffalo Sports history.
