Idk where it makes sense to post about this so posting about it here I went to the StarCenter yesterday and ice skated for basically the first time (I went once as a kid in a mall but like that barely counts). I did a lot better than I expected to do. I picked it back up because I'm working towards moving to Chicago this Fall and I'll know no one there and had the thought "hey maybe I'll join a beer league to make friends because I like hockey". Going to likely invest in my own skates and stuff soonish but it felt so good to skate around and increased my appreciation for how fucking fast this sport is played
Never too late. Kid I went to HS with got on skates for the first time in his mid 20s with the same goal to do some beer league. He's been doing it consistently for the last 15 years, legit one of the best things he's got in his life rn. Have fun.

always wanted to get back into hockey but man gear and ice time are so expensive. and if you're playing beer league your games are at lik 6am or 11pm lol
for starters: position your feet in a V shape, with your heel point kind of in the middle of the other skate blade and use that as a sort of barrier to push your fist foot off of
He’s not just showing up offensively him and trouba are so effectively shutting down mcdavid it’s beautiful to watch. Trouba had a very similar effect on Miller in NY, let him join the rush while he holds the fort defensively. seeing him and kreider doing well while stinky ass rangers continue to stink. Karma.
