I just got off work at 11 and don’t have kids lol, this is for me what like 6-7PM is for you

 

I went to my practice space at 2:30 AM Thursday night and practiced till like 4:45 (with smoke breaks) and came home and passed out at 5:15 lol, didn’t have to be up for work until 1 pm so I just did it. midnight ain’t shit to someone who works nights lol

 

I decided practice space and Taco Bell, wanna be On My Shit so that when I practice with a new bassist on Monday I’m well rehearsed for my own parts. My Take A Break From Music This Summer has run its course I need to be practicing often again (and using the practice space I pay $400 a month for)

 

how long was the break? 2minutes?

 

I tend to play for 45 min to an hour at a time and take like 10 minute weed smoking breaks while listening to music for inspiration lol

Nah I did take a legit break. I stopped like the whole month of July and I’m still working my way back up to doing show booking, open mics, studio sessions and social media posting again, I was legit very burned out from those things. Especially with booking shows it’s been a nightmare trying to find bands that aren’t busy or taking a break

 

I just remembered I can’t even claim that was a deliberate break lol. It became one after the fact but…. What started it was me cutting my hand and tearing my MCL trying to jump the fence to get back in my practice space for my keys / wallet / phone when I locked myself out LMAO. It wasn’t like “I’m gonna take a healthy break for mental health” it was like “fuck I can’t play guitar for a couple weeks anyway and I guess I AM burned out, so might as well lean into it”

I also couldn’t really afford studio time or trips to DC for open mic / practice or out of town shows after the urgent care bills and the cost of my sommelier exam… and my drummer also needed a break to focus on a family trip and another tour with a different band he was fill-in drummer for… so yeah I pretty much took a forced break by default
