the movie rocks but the random ten minute stretch in the middle with the super intense/serious praise jesus stuff with the wife of the copilot is so insane and bad every time i watch it

Had a real good night at work. Drinking a St Estephe style Bordeaux post shift. Damn these have stiff tannins lol, this is a STEAK wine. I sold two Magnum bottles this size to a party where 13/15 people ordered steaks lol.

forrest gump is immensely watchable considering how not good it is

 

Had a 15 person table, got them to spend $3600 despite only a $1500 minimum, the hosts pulled me aside and thanked me and then the “boss” of that group of medical workers (who runs the vascular surgery department) came back after everyone else left to thank me again and talk wine

Hell yeah. My boss was so happy - and this was a great audition for my boss’s boss in terms of being Lead Somm one day. Before they came in he complimented how beautifully I set up the table, and asked me essentially point blank (not point blank but as close to directly as it gets) if I could do my best to turn them into returning banquet customers (they’re from one of the high rise hospitals downtown). I think I did as much as I possibly could do to make that a reality. The head surgeon is studying wine as a hobby and loved my wine recs and pulled me aside like 3 times to tell me that lol.

There was a fifth guy that loved the Pechuga Mezcal I recommended for their celebratory end of meal shot/toast and I gave him free samples of Sotol and Raicilla (other Mexican spirits) and he might come back and request me too lol

Like could Forrest Gump have been more “artsy” and “subtle” sure but that’s not the point the movie was trying to make, don’t be pretentious lol. Good ass movie and an elite Tom Hanks performance

 

greatest thing about the success of forrest gump is that is lead bobby z to direct contact

 

Sure it’s “corny” and “bad” in some ways if you’re being pretentious but those are things that make a huge difference in the movie being emotional and relatable imo
