FWIW I get that people are gonna say things suck and I’m kinda over that debate as a whole cuz it’s just gonna happen. I don’t love it but it is what it is. I’m more just thinking about how “overrated” feels like such an empty calorie thing to say and when I myself say it I feel kinda stupid, which is weird cuz when others say it I don’t feel like they’re stupid at all and just try to think about whether or not I agree. I moreso just wanna relay my own feelings better I guess. I don’t know why I’m sharing all this

 

Saying things suck or are good or overrated doesn’t invite discussion. There’s no real response to it imo.

this is a broad statement and not directed at anyone here (important to note because this happens a lot in this very thread) i think i would be less aggressive about my opinions about not liking something if i wasnt met with such insane backlash for not liking something so mundane.

like, for example, when i say i dont like a show people like;
"insane opinion"
"baffling"
"cannot imagine not liking that"

hyperbole drives me fucking crazy and it makes me want to lean hard into shitting on the thing you like lol

I catch myself biting my tongue a lot on things I don’t like just because I don’t wanna deal with the response to me not liking said thing. Instead I try to talk about things I do like or redirect and am often met with radio silence so it does become like “no real conversation can be had”
