My Somm course went through a 360 page book and I hastily took like 77 pages of notes and even that was only 10 hour days with generous lunch breaks lol

Dude I was LOCKED IN, I literally drew geographic diagrams of wine regions to give myself a better idea where each specific wine type is found and how the geographical traits of the area contribute to how it’s grown lol

i would be interested in the 10-12 team league if we could get enough people

 

it's not necessarily training. it's just an off-site for the particular organization I'm in since we just finished Q2. lots of working through first half issues and pivoting and what not, with some speakers. but then after they are doing big dinners that are like 3 hours long (one is on a river boat I think?).

There’s a deductive wine tasting class happening in SF on 10/20 and a level 2 wine exam happening 10/22 in the literal town in Hawaii I lived in as a kid (Kailua)

strongly considering
1) visit SF for the first time, got a musician friend I can stay with there
2) use the deductive tasting class as a last minute refresher so I maximize my chances of knowing what the wines are in the blind tasting part of the exam
3) get certified in Hawaii, stay with my ex-Jags fan friend there, and see Waikiki beach/south shore and Hanauma Bay/north shore for the first time since I was 10 (won’t be able to access my old neighborhood unfortunately since it’s on a Marine base)
4) fly back by way of LA and spend a couple days with Elf

the flights are NOT that expensive if I buy them now and I would spend $0 on places to stay the whole time. VERY tempted.

It’s like $650 total in air travel and my job would compensate me for the test, tryna see if Elf would pitch in a small bit of that to contribute to me visiting him / if mom has any frequent flyer miles for southwest that she isn’t using anytime soon lol
