I am glad I don’t have to go to a mall to shop or see a movie in the city

i used to love going to the mall as a kid but that has done a 180 and now I find them dreadful.

imagine a team that only has to go 20 yards to score 3 points, and only 10 yards if the kickoff was a touchback (TBs go to the 35 yard line now). Imagine how much pressure that would put on the opponent’s special teams and defense. How much they’d be forced to be aggressive to limit yardage rather than taking a “bend don’t break, stay in your gap” disciplined approach, to end a drive without points. And how much that would make them call riskier plays that open up other things for the offense, or take riskier angles in special teams that open up punt/kickoff TD opportunities.

If he can hit from that kinda distance with any regularity that’s a huge advantage for us. That introduces situations where Trevor Lawrence can have a stalled drive against a good defense, without a turnover or a bad punt to give him a field position handicap… and we still are a threat score points??

 

When Justin Tucker (fuck him) made 66 and 67 yarders he made it by the skin of his teeth and kinda showed everybody why, even if you have the best kicker in the league, it’s only a risk you take if you can afford to miss the FG, either because time’s running out or because you’re not worried about giving the other team field position cause you’re ahead.

this 70 yarder looked so intentional and stayed clearly on course and cleared the crossbar so easily that if im the Jags coaches, im thinking “fuck it, we were 4-13 last year, if we’re not taking risks we’re not trying hard enough. We’re going to be the team that actually does break the paradigm and kick field goals from midfield all the time if weather permits it, cause our kicker can probably handle it.”

To go for a 70 yarder is just pure situational football. End of half/game is likely the only scenario it makes sense.
