My training camp thoughts before we get to react to some bad preseason football:

- AR vs Daniel Jones is the most boring QB battle. I’m inherently rooting for AR to win it and then prove me wrong and be good, because the alternative of Daniel Jones winning it and maybe peaking at being serviceable is pretty awful, but it’s such a mid-off. It sounds like AR is winning, which is cool I guess
- interesting to no one but me - it feels like there’s gonna be a ton of churn on the depth of the defense so Lou gets his guys despite them adding maybe 1 depth piece of note (Neville Gallimore) this offseason. Two guys who have been on the 53 for 2+ years, Isaiah Land & Segun Olubi, are buried on the prelim depth charts and wouldn’t be on my 53 man roster guess today, and the Gus Bradley CBs are all buried and one getting traded this month wouldn’t surprise me. Penciling in 2-3 defense waiver claims later this month and decent churn of the practice squad guys
- the CB3 race (Justin Walley vs JuJu Brents vs Jaylon Jones) is somehow worse than the QB race if Walley’s injury today is any level of bad. Current state is that they’re all hurt and they’ll give some stinker those camp reps instead and hopefully all will be back before it matters but they haven’t publicly said anything about any of them
- it’d be fun to see Jelani Woods go off this preseason and make a case to stay on the roster, but my guess today is that he’ll be cut and that it won’t be a particularly tough call to do so
- there are no fun UDFAs in camp this year; really hope someone pops off in preseason ball because I’m not banking on any of them making the team as of today (edit: if I had to pick one as of what I’ve read so far, it’d be CB Jonathan Edwards, who might take advantage of a thin CB room)

hearing good things about rookie Omarr Norman-Lott on the defensive line

juju will continue to be on the team

Kelce looks good apparently, hopefully his overall workload goes down quite a bit this year

Really just not a lot changing on KC’s starting lineup. OL and WR health are what needs the most improvement and apparently Josh Simmons is awesome so far

 

The Tyquan Thornton stuff is so wild to me. I hope it works out but man, he’s had some rough film in the past.
