Just a guy who,

-almost died from a horrible injury / infection at the beginning of his career and then got unceremoniously cut by the Cowboys because of it after being a second round pick

-from 1996-2005 (his entire Jaguars career) was second in the league in receptions (above Terrell Owens over the same time frame), second in the league in yards (above Isaac Bruce over the same time frame), and fourth in the league in touchdowns (above Tony Gonzalez in the same time frame)

-did a lot of cocaine and got caught 3 times for it between 2003 and 2005 and it ended his career early despite him easily being in good enough shape to play til he was 39-40

-because of this and because he is a Jaguar and the Jags are a joke team from a small market, he is forgotten, and people don’t know who he is anymore

The only reason I pound the table harder for Fred than for Jimmy is because RB talent has really declined in the league as the position has been devalued. Whereas amazing WRs are kinda common lol. there’s a lot of guys after Jimmy who will probably finish with similar or more total yards and deserve the HOF more than he does. Meanwhile with Fred…. Every single eligible RB with more career yards than him (and several RBs with fewer career yards) is in the HOF.

Frank Gore's HOF case will be interesting. Never seen as a top 5 (and possibly top 10) RB in any given year, yet played fooooorever to inflate his stats.

 

Rooting for Bryce Young this year. He was legit good to end the year and sure some of those were against the falcons/saints defenses but …. that’s his division!!

He also was also a dumb bobble by Legette away from leading a 4th quarter comeback against the eagles.

 

He has definitely had some top 10 years but yeah it’ll be interesting to see how it goes

 

Anyway I’m just being a football history nerd of course it doesn’t matter now. But I ain’t joking when I say the 99 Jags had the offense to keep up with St Louis. But Tom Coughlin got out coached and Mark Brunell had predictable tendencies that fell apart when he didn’t have Boselli blocking for him, womp womp. If we kept Boselli upright we very possibly win the Super Bowl but eh that’s the NFL.

 

Ending with an even 16,000 yards has gotta feel so nice too
