BTJ rookie stats still mind blowing. 1282 yards, 10 TD as a rookie… wtf lol. He’s only the fourth WR since the NFL/AFL merger to have 1200/10 in year 1. It was also the eighth most receiving yards by a rookie all time.

I get that Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, and Puka Nacua had even more impressive (statistically) rookie seasons recently, and it goes to show the passing game is more utilized than ever and that naturally sets the bar higher for talent. BUT it’s worth noting that none of those guys were on dysfunctional ass offenses that couldn’t pass the mf ball otherwise.

When you go back further in history for other WRs who have had that kind of rookie success… Randy Moss and Anquan Boldin had other HOFers (Cris Carter and Larry Fitzgerald) taking that attention off of them in year 1. Even if they were balling out, teams couldn’t afford to double cover them. Brian Thomas JR was literally THE guy right away, by week 6 teams paid more attention to him than anyone else on our team, Trevor was in an offense he rarely had time to sit in the pocket and look downfield + also wasn’t playing his best & was really inaccurate at times… and BTJ still did that. He’s gonna be so fuckin good man.
