I’m still annoyed the lions did nothing to help the d-line, which was a glaring weakness last year, and is gonna end up being a glaring weakness this year again. Relying on Marcus Davenport to somehow stay healthy is idiotic. I know they’ll end up drafting one, but just feels like missed opportunities and not learning from their mess of a playoff game

Sounds like the Chiefs could stand to add help everywhere on offense except QB. Kinda wild to think about. I’ve felt similarly about RB and WR for a bit now and obviously Kelce is long in the tooth. Doesn’t seem like they made a clear upgrade along the OL and perhaps even downgraded since the trade of Thuney, unless I’m missing something

 

on a q&a segment on the athletic football show someone asked the hosts if they thought campbell's all intensity all the time style is what led to so many injuries this past year, vs other teams "let's just get through the regular season and peak in the playoffs" mindset

I think injury luck is usually pretty random but it made me wonder

yeah, and it's not like they haven't invested in the offense the last few years. multiple high picks on receivers, they took that really athletic TCU tight end in the 4th I think last year but he tore his ACL

pacheco was the last RB they drafted though (2022) and he was a 7th round pick

I'm personally still annoyed by the Felix Anudike-Uzomah pick in 2023, that was just a completely idiotic heat check that seemingly came from ownership

 

Yeah idk. I feel like last year had so many weird freak injuries that don’t make me think that it had anything to do with that. If it was like strains etc I would be more apt to say there was something to it. But Hutch getting his leg wrapped in a normal sack, Davis breaking his jaw, it just feels like a really shitty luck season compared to the season before when we were pretty much completely healthy. And a lot of those players had never played that many games in a season before with them going to the NFC title game, so I think that compounds on it more too.

 

This makes me think about the Eagles because they’ve historically been pretty brief and light in offseason practices, like not really going longer than an hour in a session, until Fangio came in last year and sessions got bumped by an extra half hour or so. But the Eagles have lately been thinking along the lines of lighter offseasons with the hopes of being healthy come playoff time.

Not saying one way is better than the other. Just because the Eagles have largely been healthy for a few years doesn’t suddenly mean they will this upcoming year, but it’s an interesting conversation when it pops up. I was hearing it a bit last offseason

This is why I’m conflicted when I listen to or read some offseason analyses. I’ve definitely heard people say that you don’t want to build your team in free agency, but I’ve also heard stuff along the lines of “Free agency is for plugging needs so you can draft the best players available.” It’s a lot to go into the draft expecting rookies to pan out. It’s what is so wild about the Eagles’ draft class last year having not one but two rookie corners come in and look like absolute stars from day one.

Now the Eagles currently have a second-year edge rusher in Jalyx Hunt with 1.5 career sacks on 25% snap share as a projected starter. Sydney Brown is coming off a lost season and is a projected starting safety entering his third year. Jordan Davis and Moro Ojomo are in years four and three, respectively, and have a combined 3.5 in their career thus far, but they’re expected to be in-house replacements for Milton Williams unless the draft a rookie.

I’m just typically not a fan of filling needs in the draft. It’s such a tough projection.

I generally like how the Steelers go about free agency/draft (but I'm not always wild about the execution). They plug every hole before the draft with someone who is at least a fringe starter, then go into the draft with flexibility to take their needs in different rounds instead of relying solely on "WE NEED A ROUND 1 WR", etc. I'm sure other teams do this too, but it makes sense and relieves some pressure on the rookies to not need to start right away.

i was thinking about doing the full album with DI guitars layered kinda like Dazy does but i feel like that would get fatiguing on the ears after a full length so im gonna keep those takes as layers but re-record a final take with the amp for each song. shouldn’t be very time consuming since its just two tracks (one per a stereo side) per song since im gonna keep all the DI layers buried in the mix. got one done in like 30 minutes this morning after i finished all my work for the day. have to go to the grocery store and for a run later but im hoping to get like two more done this afternoon
